Checklist for Election Day

This is it. Today is Election Day!

SHARE

If you’ve already turned in your ballot – thank you! Please share the information below with your friends and family who haven’t voted.

If you haven’t voted yet, here are some helpful tips you can use today:

BEFORE YOU HEAD TO THE POLLS

Before you head to the polls, confirm your polling location and double check what documents or identification you might need to bring to vote. This varies by state, so please confirm on your state’s board of elections website.

Voting on Election Day could take some time – even up to a few hours in some places. So be sure to bring water and a snack. (And as a reminder: do not wear clothing or bring items that support or oppose any candidates or political parties, since those items might not be allowed in your polling station.)

STAY IN LINE

If polls close while you’re in line, stay in line – you have the right to vote.

IF YOU EXPERIENCE DIFFICULTIES

If your registration is challenged when you’re registered and at the right polling place, don’t leave. Call the Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-687-8683.

If your citizenship, criminal record, or other qualifications are questioned, call the Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-687-8683.

If the machines are down at your polling place, ask for a paper or provisional ballot – but only if absolutely necessary. If you have to cast a provisional ballot, ask for written instructions on how your provisional ballot will be counted and a phone number to confirm it was counted.

Thank you for making your voice heard!
