Sharleen Odour (she/her) Sharleen is an outstanding attorney who completed her LLM in International Legal Studies, Leadership & Advocacy for Women in Africa Fellowship, and the LLM Public Interest Fellowship from Georgetown University with great distinction (2022-2023).  As an expert in Intellectual Property, Traditional Knowledge, and Cultural Expressions, Sharleen extends her impact beyond legal realms, actively championing integrated and inclusive approaches to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Her notable background includes recognition as a Mandela Washington Fellow (2019) and significant contributions during her tenure at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights. Sharleen has skillfully combined her passions for human rights and cultural art. She collaborates closely with artisan women from local and indigenous communities, forging global trade and market opportunities through innovative partnerships. Her dissertation, a scholarly  exploration of utilizing intellectual property to protect the economic, social, and cultural rights of artisan women, underscores her depth of knowledge and dedication. Furthermore, her insightful pieces on cultural appropriation, biopiracy, and the repatriation of looted cultural artifacts highlight her commitment to creating meaningful, sustainable, and inclusive solutions at the intersection of law, culture, and environmental stewardship.
